1st Ever FBWAW (Read on, I’m too lazy to type it all out)

July 20, 2006

Since there’s not much to write about, I’ve decided to start something that will feature the actions of someone or something that is related to Cal each week.  I like to call this honor "The Free Beer Worthy Action of the Week".  I think this week’s selection explains itself.

Aaron Diek, a Junior at Cal, got arrested at an environmental protest on Monday.  The sign he was holding said "Save the Ozone" and he was apparently swinging it around as a motorist drove by.  He somehow managed to dent a hummer with his sign as the car was trying to drive around him.  Aaron then hopped on a bike to flee but was chased by the hummer.  But wait, it gets better.   One of his arrest charges is because he gave "false information".  I hope this means he stated his name as "Captain Ozone" or "Captain Planet".  Remember, Captain Planet??  He was that environmental superhero cartoon. Don’t lie, you know you watched and sang along with the song.

Rock on Aaron!!  Way to keep that Berkeley activism alive and well!

All that I have to say is shit like this needs to happen more often…

  1. This is crazy. The information about my arrest that you got was from the orange county register. It’s not very accurate. My sign said “Who needs an ozone layer when you have a small cock and a big truck?” and after the man in the hummer tried to hit me, i smacked the side of his car with my hand. After he chased me around town and eventually over a curb onto a nice grass lawn, i managed to get away and call the police. When i returned to the scene of the crime per the dispatcher’s request, they arrested me and let the hummer driver go.

The DA still has not pressed charges.
